The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) is reminding holidaymakers to ensure their pack their travel insurance cover this summer.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the BIBA, stressed that it is vital to ensure you have the correct travel insurance before jetting off such in case there are any unexpected problems.
"If something does go wrong abroad, you want to be able to phone someone who speaks your language who knows how to get someone to help you, or get you some medical attention and pay for it."
He added that travel insurance is regulated by the Financial Services Authority and holidaymakers should make sure that their policy fits their needs, especially if they plan to take part in adventurous activities while vacationing.
A recent survey published by EssentialTravel.co.uk revealed that over doing in the drinking while on holiday can lead to a number of travel insurance claims as a result including loss of personal items such as passports or hospitalisation due to alcohol poisoning.
