Many holidaymakers may be worried that the current economic climate could undermine their annual summer holiday but a new travel insurance policy is hoping to reduce the worries.

AllClear believes that its latest travel insurance product, which includes redundancy protection, could prove attractive to those concerned about the job market.

Under the travel insurance, policy holders will be to claim payments of up to £500 per person for European holidays and up to £800 for trips to other destinations if the holder is made redundant before the start of the holiday.

Iain Sykes of AllClear explained: "Being made redundant is bad enough. But it is doubly so when that means having to cancel a well-earned break."

Meanwhile, travel insurance customers are being reminded by Friends Provident to take steps to avoid developing skin cancer by indulging in too much sun while enjoying their annual summer vacation in hotter climes.
