Travel insurance customers 'should go further to get good deals'

People who want to obtain cheap travel insurance and save money when booking a holiday should consider jetting off further afield.

This is the opinion of Hotels.com, which claims that places such as Turkey and Morocco are currently offering some deals which are very good value for money for Brits.

This is because they are outside of the eurozone, but still within a relatively short flying distance, the website continues.

Nigel Pocklington, managing director at Hotels.com, commented: "Brits are taking advantage of these deals and are being savvy about spending their money when holidaying abroad."

He said that some hotels are currently offering savings of around 40 per cent in various destinations around the world.

Figures from Hotels.com have revealed that Brits spend an average of £97 a night on a hotel room when going abroad, while the Irish splash out on £122 a night for rooms.
