A travel insurance provider is advising holidaymakers to make sure they buy a policy that offers protection against a number of events.
Insurefor claims that its latest product can offer insurance for a number of potential problems including redundancy, industrial action and possible plane hijacking.
The policy can offer up to £5,000 if an insured party is made redundant and a total of £5,000 if a holiday is affected by strikes, as well as offering cover for fire, floods and earthquakes.
Antony Martin, managing director of Insurefor, said: "Don't be caught out by a policy which only covers for the basics.
"All our policies now cover elements such as supplier failure and redundancy as standard, both of which are vital in the current unstable economic climate."
Recent research by Tesco Personal Finance discovered that many Brits are planning to cut back on their holiday spending this year because of financial concerns.
