The Travel association Abta has highlighted that any travel insurance customers planning to travel abroad this year must understand the laws and customs of their destination before jetting off.
travel insurance customers could find themselves facing trouble if they fail to do their research before leaving the UK - especially as Abta claim there has been an increase in the number of Brits getting into difficulties when vacationing.
"If people come prepared and think about the countries which you are going to they are less likely to get into trouble once they're out there," explained an Abta spokeswoman.
The Foreign Office recently issued basic guidelines for travellers to make sure of what is and isn't acceptable when abroad, especially as many countries have strict laws on behaviour and dress.
Research by the Foreign Office revealed that 50 per cent of women who sunbathe topless do not check that it is permitted, while one in 20 men admitted to mooning or streaking on holiday without realising they could be arrested or fined for their behaviour.
