Travel insurance 'will not cover people without a visa'

Holidaymakers who have been refused entry to the US because they do not have a visa will not be covered by travel insurance, one company has warned.

InsureandGo believes that many people are unaware about the new Electronic System for travel Authorisation which is in place.

As a result, they go to America and are unable to obtain a visa, meaning their holiday has to be abandoned.

Perry Wilson, founder of InsurenadGo, said: "Unfortunately, your travel insurance won't cover you for abandoning your holiday if you haven't got a visa.

"If you have been refused a visa, it is not down to your insurance company to deal with that problem."

InsureandGo is currently calling on all travel insurance companies and holiday agencies to inform any of their customers travelling to the US about the changes surrounding visas, as the chances of them being refused entry into the country have increased.
