Citroen have announced the expansion of their popular Berlingo range of vans in order to meet the needs of van insurance customers.

From July, the new Berlingo 725 L2 Crew Van will be available and will be capable of carrying five people in addition to a load.

The van has a separate driver and front passenger seat as well as a folding three-seat rear bench to accommodate extra passengers when needed.

Robert Handyside, Citroen's commercial vehicle operations manager, said: "The new Berlingo 725 L2 Crew Van will appeal to a wide range of LCV customers. We expect strong demand for this important new model from operators involved in civil engineering, construction and utilities maintenance businesses."

With the rear seat in use, the van offers a load capacity of 2.3 cubic metres and a total of 3.35 cubic metres when the seat is folded up and not in use.

van insurance customers will also be attracted by the inclusion of a Trackstar stolen vehicle system which is fitted as standard to the new model.

Meanwhile, plans to hold a new van tradeshow at the Birmingham NEC in April 2010 have been confirmed.
