Van insurance 'essential for older vehicles'

Those who drive vans, whether it be as part of a fleet or for the purpose of their own business, may want to take into consideration advice issued by Direct Line Insurance.

Reports showing that sales of commercial vans are in decline suggest that many drivers are now opting to stay with their current models.

Because of this, Kate Syred, head of Direct Line for Business, said that motorists should take care to ensure they have the correct insurance as this could be vital if they start to experience any problems with their van.

"With small commercial vehicles particularly at risk from theft due to thieves targeting them for their loads, vehicles with older security systems may be particularly vulnerable," she added.

At the end of last month, van drivers who may leave their keys in the ignition when exiting their vehicle for a short period of time were warned that this is the perfect chance for opportunist thieves, onlyfinance.com reported.
