Nearly one-third of women would miss their bikini the most if their luggage was lost or stolen, according to new research.
A recent survey by The Co-operative Insurance polled 1,000 women and men to find out what items they would loath to lose the most on holiday with women voting their bikini top of the list.
Around 25 per cent of females would be upset about losing their delicates while 18 per cent say they would hate to go without their favourite item of clothing
The report claimed travel insurance can go some way to covering the financial loss of a traveller's luggage but women travelling without insurance will face a double blow of being out of pocket and without their choice swimwear.
David Neave, director of general insurance at The Co-operative Insurance, said that losing your luggage prior to arriving at your destination is a "practical and expensive nightmare", particularly on a short break as "that could mean you have no luggage for the entire duration of your holiday".
According to research by Thistle Hotels, the average British holidaymaker spends 1,498 hours travelling to their holiday destinations during a typical lifetime.
