I used other sites to get a car insurance. Quotezone was by far the best. I took a car insurance with an insurance company that they suggested. Since then I had an accident and the insurance company was great and I am very happy with them. To summaries I got a great deal from the financial aspects and also from the customer services aspects. I have already recommended Quotezone to a number of friends and as far as I know two of them have insured their cars via them.

Business Car Insurance – Compare Cheap Quotes

You may already know that most car insurance providers will ask how you intend to use your car when you’re taking out a car insurance policy. Insurers call this your ‘class of use’.

The reason they ask this question is that how you use your car can increase or decrease your risk of being involved in a car accident, which needs to be factored into the insurance premium calculation.

Since drivers who drive their cars for business purposes alongside the usual social and domestic journeys will often be more likely to drive during rush hour traffic and navigate their way through heavily built-up areas, business car insurance will usually cost more than a ‘social and domestic only’ policy.

Business car insurance will also take into account the fact that many drivers who use their cars for business trips will clock up more miles behind the wheel, and the more time you’re on the road the higher your risk of an accident.

Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t find competitively priced business use car insurance – it just means it’s even more important to shop around.

Why is business use car insurance more expensive?

Firstly, it’s important to bear in mind that your ‘class of use’ is just one of the variables car insurance companies will use when calculating your insurance premiums, so it’s not guaranteed you’ll given higher quotes just because you’re going to be using your car for business trips.

Your location, your driving record, your history of insurance claims, the size of your No Claims Discount, the make and model of car you drive, where you park the car when you aren’t driving it, the level of coverage you’d like to take out and the insurance excess you’re willing to accept can all influence whether or not your business car insurance is actually expensive.

However, all other things being equal, car insurance companies believe that drivers who use their cars for business trips as well as social and domestic journeys have a slightly higher risk of making an insurance claim, which can sometimes make their insurance a little more costly.

Can I choose ‘social and domestic’ instead of ‘business use’ if I only use my car for business purposes very occasionally?

No, it’s important all of the details that you give to the car insurance provider are honest and accurate, and that includes your class of use. If you were using your car for business purposes, even only occasionally, you could run the risk of having your car insurance policy cancelled for non-disclosure.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that your premium might not be that much higher when you choose business use car insurance, and if you shop around by comparing quotes from a wide range of different providers you could find a cheap business car insurance policy.

What level of coverage should I opt for if I’m taking out business car insurance?

There are three levels of car insurance coverage available in the UK:

  • Third party: This is the minimum level of coverage required under UK law, and is essentially intended to protect other drivers when you take to the roads, hence the name ‘third party’. If you opt for this level of coverage your insurance provider will cover the cost of damage to other people’s cars or property if you are involved in an at-fault accident, but damage to your own car wouldn’t be covered.

  • Third party, fire, and theft: This level of coverage offers the same protection as third party insurance, but will also cover you if your own car is stolen or damaged by fire.

  • Fully comprehensive car insurance: As the name suggests, fully-comp is the most comprehensive level of cover a driver can take out in the UK. This type of policy includes everything that’s covered by TPFT, but will also cover the cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle of an at-fault driver. This type of insurance will also pay out if you’re involved in an accident with an uninsured driver, which isn’t covered by lower levels of cover.

We would always recommend that you opt for a fully-comprehensive car insurance policy, because when you’re taking out business car insurance – not only will it ensure you have the best possible coverage for your car, but it’s often just as cheap (or sometimes even cheaper) than a third party only policy.
