The Hyundai Group was founded by Chung Ju-Yung in 1947 as a construction company. The company grew and expanded into five business groups: Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, Hyundai Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, and Hyundai Development Group.
