LDV Ltd. began operations in 1993 after a management buyout of DAF NVs Leyland DAF van Manufacturing division in the city of Birmingham England. LDV Ltd. was prior to its merger with Leyland Trucks and DAF Trucks in 1987 part of the British Leyland/BMC group and was formerly the Freight Rover division of the Land Rover Group of British Leyland. LDV Ltd. has over 100 years of automotive experience and has been run and owned by the management with a 1200 strong workforce since 1993. In addition to producing light vans and commercial vehicles across Europe, the company also produces and supplies parts such as door assemblies to companies such as Land Rover.
