If it gets stolen, how protected is my data?

It depends what you have in place before the theft, and what you do after. The new iPad pro has both touch ID and face ID which will slow down any thieves trying to access your your personal files and documents. Of course, Apple has a tried and tested system for dealing with stolen devices and is making life harder for those trying to mine information from iPads as well as gain the value from the device itself. Try switching on “Lost mode”: it allows you to set a passcode barrier so no-one can access anything beyond the “lost mode” screen. Once you’ve done that, you can set a message that appears on the screen, displaying your contact details so it can be returned to you if a Good Samaritan happens to find it. Apple Pay is also automatically cancelled.

What about my Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard?

If you want both of these items covered you may need to look at insurance for multiple gadgets as the majority of policies have a value ceiling for accessories. An Apple Pencil will be covered, but you may need to look at taking out a separate policy for your magic keyboard (These are keyboards that attach to your iPad Pro magnetically). Just as there are different models of iPad, so there are different models of Magic Keyboard. If you have a 12.9 inch iPad pro, then your Magic Keyboard will certainly push through the accessory value threshold. Remember to keep receipts for additional accessory purchases because all insurers will require proof that you have bought your Pencil or Keyboard legitimately.
