As a new driver, there’s a good chance you’ll struggle to find cheap insurance quotes. After all, your relative inexperience behind the wheel, your lack of a ‘no claims bonus’, and in many cases your younger age, means you’re likely to represent a riskier insurance proposition to an insurance broker or underwriter than a more experienced motorist would do, and you’ll usually pay a higher premium for your new driver car insurance for that reason.

• Opting for a smaller car in a lower insurance group, will usually mean the insurance premium is lower too. 

• Completing the ‘Pass Plus’ or ‘RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders’ test, which can help to demonstrate that you’re a safe driver who obeys the rules of the road and doesn’t take undue risks.
