Compare Ford Ka Insurance

One of the UK’s most popular cars, the Ford Ka is a regular sight on Britain’s roads. Starting life as a three-door hatchback, the Ford Ka evolved into the Ford Ka+ in 2016. Now it’s available in roomier five-door hatchback and four-door saloon options. As you might expect, the later models are equipped with modern features, such as SYNC voice command, keyless entry and cruise control.

If you’re looking to cover your Ford Ka, then read on for tips on your Ford Ka insurance.

How safe is the Ford Ka?

Because the Ford Ka was tested in 2008 by Euro NCAP, its safety ratings fall under the older method. Following this system, the Ka achieved a 4/5 rating for adult safety, 3/5 rating for child safety. With the Ford Ka no longer being in production, its safety features are understandably more limited in comparison to newer models. However, it does come fitted with airbags and ABS with traction control to help prevent skidding.

Under the current Euro NCAP rating system, the Ford Ka+ received a modest three stars, with 73% for adult occupation, and 61% for child safety.

Is the Ford Ka a good car?

The Ford Ka does offer good value for money, and its compact size makes it highly suitable for urban driving and narrow, country roads. Autocar awarded the 2009-2016 models a three-star review, praising its engaging handling and affordability. Combined with its low-insurance costs, it is a relatively sensible option.

How much does the Ford Ka cost?

New models of the Ka+ are no longer available as production of the range was stopped in 2019. However, used models are readily for a reasonable price, with a second-hand 2019 Ka+ setting you back around £11,000.

Is the Ford Ka cheap to insure?

Owing to its small engine, modest top speed, and limited acceleration, the Ford Ka is a very cheap car to insure. As with all car insurance quotes, your age, driving experience and claim history will factor into your insurance cost total. Providing your Ford Ka is not modified, you should find a very reasonable insurance quote.

The same applies to the newer models too, with Ka+ insurance being very affordable.

What insurance group does the Ford Ka fall under?

The Ford Ka falls into insurance groups 1-11. At the lower end of Ford Ka insurance, models with the 1.2-litre 69bhp engine will usually fall under group 1 insurance. Moving up the engine size and trim options will typically push you into the group 5 region, as will most models within the Zetec range.

Can I reduce my Ford Ka insurance?

Yes you can. Black box insurance – which measures how safely and efficiently you drive – is popular with young drivers and students. Another option is to increase your voluntary excess, but you will need to be certain that you can afford this in the event of making a claim. Also consider where you leave your car at night. Many insurers will provide more favourable quotes if you are able to park your car on a drive, or in a garage.

Where can I find Ford Ka insurance?

With the Ford Ka being such a popular vehicle, you should have no problem comparing a wide range of quotes online. Whether you are an experienced or new driver, it is worth shopping around to compare different quotes, as you may be able to make a saving.
