The Hillman Car company began prior to 1930, however was bought out in 1930 by the Rootes company made up of Hillman, one of the original founders and also Sunbeam, Humber and Singer. The Rootes company stayed involved in Hillman until 1966 at which time they ran into financial trouble.
Chrysler Corporation took over in 1966 and developed the Hunter which had a four door sedan, the Mark II in 1967, the GT version in 1969. Chrysler continued with the division until 1979 until it was sold to an Iranian company who produced cars under the name Peykan.
