Ford first imported Ford cars into the UK in 1903. In 1911 they employed 60 people to make the Muddlety and 1914 the first moving assembly line for car production was started with 21 cars being built per hour.
During World War II Ford turned out 360,000 vehicles for the war effort. After the war Ford expanded plants at Doncaster, Southampton, Croydon and Romford and employed 40,000 people by 1953.
The Ford Escort was produced from 1968 until 2000 and is considered a subcompact class of small car with body styles that include four-door sedans, three and five door hatchback, two and four-door station wagons and a two-door convertible. Engine types include one liter up to and including two litre Ford Zetec engines. The Ford Escort was originally a British automobile however it became so popular that it was exported around the world. Due to its station wagons design as well as hatchback design the Ford Escort was popular with both families as well as trades people.
A number of other Ford models that are classed as both vans as well as pickups include the following vehicles. The Ford Ranger which comes in various configurations including a 4x4 world rally configuration, a double cab configuration, a regular cab configuration, super cab configuration, thunder double cab and a thunder super cab model. Ford also produced the Fiesta 35 van beginning in 1994 and also continues in production until today. The fiesta 35 van comes in a variety of configurations and engine sizes. Pickup trucks are also popular with trades people and many people will place cabs on the back of the box on their trucks to protect their tools and products that they are delivering to their customers. As a result, pickup trucks have become very popular with the maverick 4x4, P 100, the Ford Ranger, the T200 connect van, the T230 van, the Transit 100 and a number of other vans and trucks that are available in the UK for trades people to use in their everyday business.

The transit 260 began production in 2000 and continues until this day in a variety of engine sizes and configurations. 75 horsepower 100 horsepower and 120 horsepower are standard engine configurations for the transit 300 series vans.
