Compare Great North Energy’s gas and electricity tariffs
Based in Doncaster in the north of England, Great North Energy was set up by Doncaster Council in 2017 and is one of just a handful of energy suppliers in the UK that are run as non-profits.
Doncaster Council has partnered with Robin Hood Energy to create this new energy brand, which is itself one of the few non-profits in the UK’s highly competitive energy market.
While customers don’t have to live in Doncaster in order to sign up with Great North Energy, they do need to live in the north of England.
If you live ‘up north’ and are thinking of switching your energy supplier why not use our energy price comparison service to compare tariffs now? It’s free to use, and you’re under no obligation to switch.
How long does it take to switch to Great North Energy?
If you’ve decided to switch the process should normally take around 3 weeks to be completed, and your energy supply will not be interrupted during this time.
While the move to your new supplier actually takes just a few days in most cases, the reason for the three-week delay is that suppliers are obliged to allow a 14-day cooling off period before they move customers across.
Does Great North Energy supply business customers?
No, Great North Energy was created to serve domestic energy customers in the north of England, so if you own or run a business in that region and you’re looking to switch energy supplier you should use our business energy comparison service instead.
Does Great North Energy supply renewable electricity?
Yes, since Great North Energy’s supply partner, Robin Hood Energy, supplies 100% renewable electricity, any customer that has their electricity supplied by Great North Energy can rest assured that their electricity is from 100% renewable energy sources.
Does Great North Energy supply gas as a standalone utility?
Yes, Great North Energy is one of just a handful of utility companies in the UK that supplies gas as a standalone energy supply rather than as part of a dual fuel tariff. For reference, iSupplyEnergy, So Energy, and Zog Energy are a few of the other energy companies that can provide a gas-only supply.
